In addition to the yearly activities of the Foundation,
including the World of Song Award, the
CyberSing Song Performance Competition, the ASCAP/LLF Song Composition Contest, annual benefits, and the publication of the bi-annual newsletter
SongScape,
the following major developmental and organizational initiatives are anticipated:
2006-2007
- Formal financial audit by the firm of Woloshen and Herman.
Status: The audit was completed on 1 December 2006.
- Search for, and engagement of a Part time Executive Director
Status: The board voted in September of 2006 to create the paid position, has created a job description, and determined to open a search, in September of 2007, for a paid Executive Director.
- Search for and engagement of a Professional Grant-Writer
Status: The board voted to engage as a consultant Linda Edelstein, Director of Group Services for the United Performing Arts Fund
in Milwaukee, and former Executive Director of the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra, in March of 2006. In collaboration with the President, Ms. Edelstein has submitted grant applications to the
following Foundations as of 1 December 2006: Jerome Foundation, Puffin Foundation. Seven grants shall have been filed by June of 2006. Ms. Edelstein has agreed to
consult with the LLF for a three year period.
- Commissioning of Brand
Status: Branding was completed in June of 2006 by Jennifer Wolfe Design in Rochester, New York. The project included the design of LLF's logo, letterhead, associated web-images and template for
future issues of the LLF's bi-annual newsletter, SongScape.
- Engagement of Counsel
Status: In May of 2006, Attorney Corey Field, of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll signed an agreement to serve as Counsel to the Foundation to consult on the many commissioning and
publication agreements being negotiated by the Foundation's VoxNova Media project.
2007-2008
- Search for, and election of, new President
Status: The board voted in September of 2006 to initiate a search for a new President, whose term will begin in September of 2007. A search committee has been created and candidates are being interviewed.
- Print Music Distribution Agreement with EC Schirmer Publishing
Status: This agreement, which covers print distribution internationally for vocal music publication (of both historically important and artistically important new vocal works) published by
VoxNova Media, is currently being negotiated and should be settled by May of 2007.
- Compact Disc Distribution Agreement for VoxNova Recordings
Status: This agreement, which covers distribution of future compact disc releases by VoxNova Media, is being negotiated and should be settled by May of 2007.
- Additions to the Board
Goal: During 2007-2008 it is contemplated that two new board members will join the Board of Directors. One new board member will assume the maintenance of the Foundation's financial affairs;
the other new board member will assist primarily in development.
2008-2009
- Vocal Master Class Program
Goal: Applications for funding for this program began in the Fall of 2006 and are ongoing. It is contemplated that the Vocal Master Class Program, which will feature prominent European Vocal pedagogues
working with young American singers three times each season at a prominent New York concert venue, will join CyberSing competition and the ASCAP/LLF Competition as the third of the three
programs serving as the centerpiece of the Foundation's outreach activities, beginning in September of 2009, with the first Master Class being held in the Fall of 2009.
- VoxNova Media
Goal: VoxNova's first ten print music releases will appear in June of 2008 and be available immediately as PDF downloads from the VoxNova website. The first compact Disc release is slated for January of 2009.
- Additions to the Board
Goal: During 2008-2009 it is contemplated that two new board members will join the Board of Directors. Both new members will be specialists in development.
