Dich teure HalleElisabeth opens the second act of Wagner's Tannhäuser with this ecstatic aria. Though she's ostensibly greeting the Minstrels' Hall in the Wartburg, it is really important to her that Tannhäuser (who she loves) is returning to sing there after years of absence. Listen as Lehmann pours her soul into the meaning of every word. Note that at the end, she holds the penultimate note for extra emphasis and musical suspense; also she has no trouble with the high note at the end.
