  • August 2002: You may now hear Lehmann recite a Goethe poem.
  • August 2002: Gary Hickling is preparing a Lehmann Chronology for inclusion in the forthcoming Lehmann biography from Baskerville Publishers. Anyone with programs, especially recitals, are encouraged to copy and send them to us. We have performance information from the Metropolitan, Covent Garden, San Francisco and the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonic, but need European and American concerts, recitals and opera appearances. We have prepared a sample.
  • August 2002: Ted Mignone and Bruce Herman share their memories of Lehmann.
  • July 2002: Four recent CD releases of collections contain Lehmann recordings.
  • June 2002: The Lotte Lehmann Foundation awarded the World of Song Award to Advisor Hugues Cuénod on his one hundredth birthday. Read about his birthday celebration.
  • May 2002: We have been contacted by the Canadian historian Michael Kater, who is writing a book tentatively called "Lotte Lehmann in her Times." He needs input from knowledgable people with Lehmann connections. Her connections with the Third Reich are of great interest to Professor Kater.   • March 2002: We have a few Lehmann biographies "Lotte Lehmann, a Life in Opera & Song" for sale: written by Beaumont Glass in 1988 with a discography by Gary Hickling, these books are "new" but have been in a warehouse, so show some age. $25 + postage.   • January 2002: We have received the first day issue of the 1988 Lotte Lehmann stamp issued in Germany.
  • The Lotte Lehmann Foundation presented Dalton Baldwin, one of its Advisors, with the first "World of Song" award in honor of his 70th birthday on 19 December 2001. It was designed by Denis Lund of New York City.

  • November 2001: Romophone has released a two CD set of Lieder which Lehmann recorded for Columbia records in 1941 and 1942. There are a few items which were never released on 78s. It is available from Norbeck & Peters: www.norpete.com.
  • August 2001: Ned Rorem has written "I Never Knew," a song to Judy Sutcliffe's English translation of one of Lehmann's poems, as the required song for the Lehmann Foundation's CyberSing: 2002, the first global web-based art song contest. It is available for download from the Boosey & Hawkes website: www.boosey.com
