Why a Web Site for Lotte Lehmann?

The Lotte Lehmann Web Site is the only website dedicated to the art and life of this great German soprano. She was famous as an acting singer in roles such as the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Elsa in Lohengrin, Sieglinde in Die Walküre and Leonore in Fidelio. Lehmann was equally respected for her performances of Lieder (German classical song), in which her abilities as a poet were expressed in her singing.
