Michael Kater's Research

Michael Kater's Research

YOU may be able to help in historic Lehmann research! The Canadian historian of the social and political history of culture, mostly of Germany/Austria in the 20th century, Michael H. Kater has received a substantial grant from a Canadian foundation, which will enable him to intensify his Lehmann research, which he has been conducting for the last few years at the Lehmann Archives at UCSB and at the Music Academy of the West.

He wishes to cover Lehmann's life and career as it began in Perleberg/Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, New York, Los Angeles-San Francisco, Evanston, Santa Barbara, but also reflecting on the sociopolitcal circumstances confronting her at every turn.

Dr. Kater has found considerable material covering the period from 1938 on, but there is a dearth of letters/documents for the important years before then. If you have such material or know where such material is located, please contact Dr. Kater at his email address: mkater@yorku.ca
