Marilyn Horne remembers Lehmann

In an interview before her July 1990 recital in Santa Barbara, Ms. Horne said of her former teacher, "She had this unbelievable imagination and creativity within her.... She really showed me what...a song can be. It's a story within itself, from the first note of the piano to the last note of the piano. She showed me that a simple song, a small entity, has as much as a great huge scene or huge opera. It has a whole story to tell."
